S3 Two heavy exceptional Thadobati singing bowl that play with oscillating intensity.
5 & 5 1/2″, 0.9 & 1.1 Lbs
Sound Clip: Musser Mallet M208
Both of these exceptional quality bowls test out as middle octave A’s with a barely discernable couple of Hz difference in frequency. 2047 is one of those uneven old bowls that look like they have been molded with fingers rather than hammers. 2048 has sharper edges and some faint markings inside. Both are bright with a gold tint and a bit of stain at the bottom. When played together it takes about 10 seconds for the oscillation to begin to emerge and what you hear is a distinctly changing intensity of sound that moves from loud to soft. When you play one bowl you get the tone without the oscillation. Way cool. Try mallets M216 on 2048 and M217 on 2047, the different hardness’ augment tone convergence.
