1152 Antique Jambati Singing Bowl with deep tone and reverberation

Bright Jambati with hammermarks and subtle copper tarnish. You can see the edge moving as you tap this deep toned thin walled bowl. That movement is an expression of the complexity of the sound it is producing. This bowl has a different sound every 100 Hz or so, 16 tones under 2 kHz. All that activity gives the bowl a richness and it also works to exhaust the strike early in a short sustain. It is easy to play the bowl with leather, for wood the only thing that works is a Frank Perry massive wand – and just ok at that. With overtones at C#4, C#5, G#5, D#6.
