6135 Huge Antique Mani Singing Bowl with excellent harmony and longevity
Huge extra-thick Mani with artwork that is worn on the outside and well preserved at the bottom. Very harmonious soundscape with a powerful primary tone very much in the lead. Longevity is outstanding. What the bowl also has is a sonic crack, a high pitched tone that is evident for a few seconds after the strike. In this bowl I’m not sure whether that is a bug or a feature. The sound is not discontinuous, nor very evident, mostly something apparent to a trained ear. Plays really nicely off the rim, quick to volume and more smoothly than most. An exceptional bowl except for the high pitched discontinuity, which by the way you can avoid entirely with a very soft mallet. Marked down. With overtones at F#6, E7.
