8134 Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with strong pulses and a sweet center
Simple Manipuri with all the features worn away from long use. Powerfully responsive bowl with overlaying patterns of active sound. The bowl has complex repeating patterns that interchange with tones that are harmoniously arranged. This bowl has a lot of weight for its size which is put to good use. The tones play strongly and the sustain is simply outstanding. Late on in the sustain, after half a minute you begin to hear the high pitches which are initially obscured by the lower tones. Rim play is good with big sticks, just spectacular if you like the high overtones that can be easily teased out with a tiny wand. With overtones at E5, D#6, D#7.
