8495 Large Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with complex sound

Simple Manipuri, originally had some artwork, now worn smooth. Dark patina with traces of hammermarks. Complex sounding bowl with many frequencies. Most striking is the strong overtone with a thumping bass underneath. Very good sustain. The bowl shows real strength with stick play, both leather and wood come off easily. You’d need a smoother rim for use with a wand to play the highest overtones. With overtones at C#5, C#6, G#6, .
