8688 Adorned Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with steady and emerging woo-woo
Simple Manipuri with all the features worn away with a bright clean color. Nicely active bowl where you get a good taste of the primary tone as you strike it, then the overtones come to your attention. Excellent sustain so the process of unfolding tones takes place over time. The bowl is rated premium for how well the tones play together, just great to listen into deeply. You really get the best out of this bowl with a hard small precision mallet or very deft use of the ringing stick to tap it. The softer less expensive mallets leave out important chunks of the soundscape. All overtones off the rim, it plays smoothly with leather and powerfully with wood or wand. This is a rare bowl plain and nondescript with tremendous and even unexpected sound inside. With overtones at E5, D#6, A#6, D#7.
