Thick Antique Jambati Singing Bowl with thundering low and sweet high #1145

1. Best L1 Large Soft White Felt Mallet single tap.
2. Rim Play: N103 Large Ringing Stick leather low then overtone

Large Jambati, very old and worn smooth to the touch. I bought this bowl 12 years ago in Nepal and when it arrived here in America I saw it had some physical cracks near the rim. These were not sonic cracks but the were flaws or weaknesses in the metal. With enough pounding in just the wrong place the bowl could get worse. So I put it aside, some low out of the way shelf unsure of what to do. Thing is it is a fine sounding bowl and in the right hands should never have a problem.

Thundering pulsing low main tone nicely balanced by singing overtones. While the deep bass is the main presence the overtones give the bowl extraordinary sweetness. A great combination. Sustain is fine.

Good rim play, really easy to spin with zero clatter. Pure bass takes a light touch, overtones spin easily off the rim with leather. Wood for the next high. Marked down for the physical crack. Be careful with this bowl. Used properly it will have no problems. . With overtones at D4, C#5, A#5.
