Huge Rare Antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a deep bass #1522

1. N66 Large Soft Felt MalletBest single tap.
2. Rim Play: N105 XL Ringing Stick leather low then overtone

Huge Jambati, almost 14 inches which is the outer range for antiques. Weighing in at 6.5 Lbs it is also on the very high end for antiques. The bowl was finished in Tibetan black, though now the high exterior points are worn to a rich brown. Just beautiful.

The initial sonic impression is of the overtones which cover up the deep slow bass note. The overtones drop out fairly quickly leaving that bass. Overall sustain is fair, under a minute. The bass is easily played off the rim – with the bowl naturally going to its lower note.

Fine rim sustain on bass. Overtones can be played with leather as well. This is a rare example of the old singing bowl art. With overtones at D4, D5, A5, E6.
