Large Antique Jambati Singing Bowl with an incredibly even pulse #1632

1632 Large Antique Jambati Singing Bowl with an incredibly even pulse #1632

1. Best XL 1 Extra Large Very Low Mallet single tap.
2. Rim Play: N103 Large Ringing Stick leather low then overtone followed by N102 Medium Ringing Stick

Tall smaller Jambati with darker coloration inside and out. The bowl has some clear etching inside and out under the patina. The bottom is rounder than most of this style, the artist deciding to put a bit more of the mass into raising the sides. Evenly pulsing sound, a virtual metronome, the fundamental tone is solid and subtle while the strongest note the first overtone pulses sharply and consistently. Above it at least at the start is a textured more solid second overtone. Outstanding sustain to go with the premium harmony. If struck really firmly there is a flaw in the soundscape, sort of a rattle. Really fine rim play. Playing the bass takes a light touch but comes across satisfyingly pure. The evenly pulsing overtone so strong wit a mallet plays with purity and power. This bowl has auditorium filling potential. As a bonus, quite unusually, the second overtone can be played strongly, albeit with a bit of the first, with a smaller basic stick. Spring for the extra few dollars to tease this one out. This bowl will be exceptional if not for the subtle flaw. With overtones at A#, A5.
