Thick Adorned Polished Antique Jambati Singing Bowl with sweet high #1670
1670 Thick Adorned Polished Antique Jambati Singing Bowl with sweet high #1670
1. N77 XL Nepali Mallet followed by L1 multiple taps. |
2. Rim Play: N105 XL Ringing Stick leather low twice followed by FP Massive Zebrawood Wand |
Incredibly heavy super thick Jambati long ago polished to a glow inside and now tarnished outside. The bowl has elaborate etching inside, out and on the broad rim.
Sweet high pitched sound on top of a slowly pulsing bass. The highs quickly drop out followed by the bass so not a lot of sustain. Multiple taps (second part of the recording ) are a nice way to play. The bowl is so heavy and steady with its flat bottom it is easy to strike as hard as you wish.
Stick play with leather is all fundamental, the recording has gentle then more concerted contact – the same outcome (and very different volume). For the overtone best is the massive zebrawood wand. With overtones at A4, A5, F6.
