Very Large and Thick Antique Thadobati Lingam Singing Bowl #3065

1. Best L 6 Large Medium Mallet followed by L 8 single taps.

Extra large, thick and heavy Thadobati lingam with clear central artwork and original patina. This ceremonial bowl is likely hundreds of years old and has seen a lot of use based on the evident wear. It is made in the classic style, incredibly heavy with a broad crushed rim and tall lingam surrounded by hand etched circles. The lack of exterior art, that is relative simplicity combined with the very deeply crease under the rim will date the bowl earlier.

Pleasant fluttering soundscape, simple direct and high for such a big bowl. Sustain is short No rim play to speak of. This is a genuine antique lingam, one of the very few which are collected each year. The most likely date for this bowl is 15th to 16th century. We acquired this bowl in 2014. Great piece for the right collector. With overtone at F6.
