Extra thick large Thadobati lingam bowl. Spectacular example of this extremely rare very old type smooth to the touch from long use. The that appears to contain different metal than the bowl. Evident etching inside and out and an extremely broad inner facing rim. The thickness and weight of the bowl are at the high end for all genuine antique lingam bowls. The most likely date for this bowl is 15th to 17th century. We acquired this bowl in 2012.

Impressive soundscape with an initial dual tone impression with a solid overtone and pulsing bass accompanied by two higher notes.  Excellent sustain with a fast woo-woo as the strongest and longest part.  This big bowl sings great with the L8 large precision mallet which accentuates the harmonious overtones.  It needs the stability of the largest ringing sticks N105 or N108 to manage the rim sound. Same tone wood or leather. Very difficult to come across old ceremonial bowls with this size and sonic coherence. With overtones at D6, C7, G#7.
