Ancient Large Mani Singing Bowl with delightful oscillating soundscape

6134 Ancient Large Mani Singing Bowl with delightful oscillating soundscape

Extra large very thick Mani that has experienced a tremendous amount of wear over the years. All the deep incuse interior art is worn away. Nevertheless the bowl weighs in over 3 pounds, a testament to just how much weight there was originally. Nicely coherent soundscape, just a hint of overtone with a strong primary note. It has that wonderful Mani quality of high notes that break through complacency. On single strike it quiets quickly but then finds its level and sustains. With multiple taps you can get an excellent sustain and woo-woo oscillations. Really a delightful soundscape. Plays smoothly off the rim with leather, unlike many old worn Mani bowls this one has just enough texture on the rim to bite. This is the kind of bowl you can play for a continuous hour, going around and around varying the sped like in the recording.. You can really up the volume if you wish, and generate quite the sustain. With overtones at G6, F7.
