Extra Thick Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with high frequency tone

8237 Extra Thick Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with high frequency tone

Extra thick Manipuri with a broad outer facing rim. The bowl is shiny and bright with clear artwork. It has not been recently polished – we picked this one up in 2012. Softly pulsing high frequency primary tone with matched overtones. Their extra thick bowl has a lot of high notes in it, with the very high mallet (second part recording 1) these have a more prominent role. Longevity is fair, harmony premium. Primary tone plays the rim with leather, the thick flared out style mitigates against wood. This is a rare old style Manipuri, the shape and thickness reminiscent of the ones coming over the Himalayas from Tibet in the 70s and 80s. With overtones at C#6, C7, G7.
