Adorned Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with a deep steady bass
9138 Adorned Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with a deep steady bass
1. Best L 2 Large Very Low Mallet single tap. |
2. Rim Play: N103 Large Ringing Stick leather low then overtone followed by wood |
Large Manipuri that had much artwork originally. Despite much use and significant wear in the center of the bowl there are bold circles and punches. The bowl has nice even patina. The deep bass is a steady presence under a complex mix of overtones, the harmony is excellent even with the sensory richness. Longevity is ok, sound falls off and then maintains. Great stick bowl with its smooth edge. It even has a couple of rim nicks that you won’t hear at all. The leather ringer plays the deep bass quite naturally – that is where the bowl wants to go. That same leather plays the primary overtone and flipping the stick to the wood side clearly sings the next two notes which come up. Fast and clear. With overtones at F#4, F5, F6.
