Thick brilliantly polished Manipuri with simple classical lines. It has a smooth as silk feel, from the many hand polishings that have imparted a deep mirror finish. There is a short long ago etched inscription below the deeply etched exterior lines. A rare find. A solid fundamental and barely pulsing overtone lead this sweet soundscape which sings throughout a very good sustain. There are plenty of other notes providing background support. While basic wood will spin the rim it is much easier and more satisfying with tiny wands – tulipwood or ebony for the second high, yew for the overtone. With overtone at G#5.
