Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with fluttering clear overtones #9979

9979 Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with fluttering clear overtones #9979

1. Best L 4 Large Low Mallet single tap.
2. Rim Play: N102 Medium Ringing Stick leather then wood followed by FP Tulipwood Wand

Bright Manipuri worn smooth from use. Jangly and fluttering soundscape with a deep fundamental and clear overtones. This is not a relaxing soundscape, it is one to shake you up. Sustain is only fair, this bowl puts its energy into shaking the rim. The loose rim makes for fairly good leather contact to play the bass. Overtones come across more strongly with wands. Rim play loses that somewhat disconcerting main soundscape. The unique sound is many tones playing together, not the individual parts. With overtones at C5, B5, G6, C#7.
