Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with encrusted multi-colored patina

5492 Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with encrusted multi-colored patina

Heavy Thadobati with an encrusted dark finish. The bowl has deep reds and flashes of brilliance inside. Solid C strike tone accompanied by two singing and fluttering overtones. There is very little change in tone volume giving the bowl a calming feel despite the high frequency. Sustain is weak, 15 seconds at best, but the tonal quality still makes it a fine bowl. Harder mallet brings out a bit more overtone (second half recording 1). With a deft touch the bowl will sing off the rim with leather, no wood play due to the patina. With overtones at C6, E7.
