Rare Large Heavy Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with fluttering tone #3400
3400 Rare Large Heavy Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with fluttering tone #3400
1. Best L 4 Large Low Mallet followed by L 6 single tap. |
2. Rim Play: FP Massive Zebrawood Wand |
Extremely rare extra thick Thadobati bowl. At over 8 1/2 inches wide and 4 Lbs. in weight this is among the largest of this style you will ever see. The bowl has a triple thick rim, clear but worn inner artwork and golden original patina. The soundscape is one of quick activity with a rapid prominent overtone dominating. Sustain is only fair. The strike tone is richer and the sustain longer with multiple taps as opposed to a single one (second half recording 1). This bowl is made for the massive Frank Perry wands, really they are the only way to play the rim. You can get good volume and sustain. A one of a kind bowl. With overtones at A#5, A6.
