Very large super thick thadobati. This is an example of a very old style bowl with worn etching. The broad rim has etched lines in the middle. This bowl has a story. It was sold in 2016 discounted for a sonic flaw, it took the customer here years to decide to return it. In that time somehow the flaw expanded, only the lightest tap will produce a pure sound. The basic underlying soundscape is the sweet high of these thick old Thadobati style. Very high strike tone for the size. Good sustain for the massive size. The bowl can be played softly with just a bit of the flaw evidenced at the beginning or vigorously as in the second part of recording one. Either way the flaw lives in the overtone and as the sustain continues you get the pure high fundamental, pure and penetrating. Not so easy to play off the rim, still the bowl can be kept going playing the low quite cleanly. If you are looking for a rare old style bowl and are content to keep the volume down this is a good opportunity. No returns please!. With overtones at C#6, B6.
