Distinctive Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with middle C fundamental

4090 Distinctive Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with middle C fundamental

1. Best L 2 Large Very Low Mallet single tap.
2. Rim Play: N103 Large Ringing Stick leather low then overtone

Extra thick very large Thadobati with outer sloped walls. The bowl actually has a bit of a curve in, like an Ultabati, and the look of thick putty. The patina is rich and varied, no artwork is visible. This is the kind of bowl that can date back hundreds of years, an idea supported by the metallic crystallization visible as copper sparkles at the bottom of the bowl. Bouncing in tune middle C is the strongest note, supported by a solid high overtone. Sustain is pretty good, this heavy thick bowl can take a very hard strike so you can put a lot of energy in it. The recording is with a gentler precision mallet but I would recommend the simple thumper over or at least in addition to it. For the middle C spinning the rim with leather is the way to go, it comes up pure and strong easily. Wood spins a combination of bass and overtone. With the hardest massive wand the overtone has clear solo follow through. We don’t see very many of this kind of bowl anymore, thick molded putty. This one’s middle C makes it quite special. With overtones at F#5, , . Middle C – A440 Scale – 261 Hz.
