Large Thick Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl WITH A HOLE #40191

1. Best L 6 Large Medium Mallet single tap.
2. Rim Play: N103 Large Ringing Stick leather then wood

Very old and thick extra-large Thadobati with beautiful consistent patina. The bowl is so old and worn that the bottom of it was paper thin. I see this sometimes in the ancient antiques, you can sometimes push on the bottoms and they move like a piece of aluminum foil. Well in this case some rough handling resulted in the bottom cracking. That made the bowl unplayable. In order to try to salvage it

Sweet soundscape, very much focused on the pure steady fundamental tone. Premium harmony, a great sounding bowl. Sustain is only about 20 seconds, the missing bottom takes out some longevity. There is no trace of sonic issues, however, just pure singing bowl tones.

Great rim play, leather or wood smoothly spin the fundamental again sustain somewhat attenuated. Huge markdown for the hole, but I think this bowl will find a nice home. A warning, the metal is sharp and you could cut yourself on it if handling the bowl the wrong way. Not one to have around kids. That being said I found playing the bowl safe and easy.. With overtones at F#5, F6.
