9808 Antique Buddhist /Bon Medicine bowl for sonic potentiation #9808

1. Best L 4 Large Low Mallet followed by L 6 single tap.
2. Rim Play: N103 Large Ringing Stick followed by FP Ebony Wand

Himalayan medicine bowls were used as an part of preparing herbs for use. The flat form and central lingam were designed to provide a surface on which to arrange a mandala of herbs, compounds and minerals. Often the mandala was placed on the chest of the intended recipient and rung, sometimes once and sometimes in a series.

This medicine bowl’s strike tone oscillates. While not traditional, the bowl also plays well with ringing sticks. A large ringing stick plays 633HZ D#5 while a Frank Perry wand brings our a sixth octave overtone in D, 1170 Hz. Great looking bowl, dark, with many lines and a sharp lingam. Acquired by Best Singing Bowls in Nepal in 2012.
