Rare Heavy Extra Thick Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with broad rim #2556

1. Best S 9 Small Very High Mallet single tap.

Rare extra thick very old Thadobati with a very broad rim, the style of which is usually seen on much larger bowls. The artwork is faded but evident and the color a mixture of brass, green and dusty red. Fluttering high strike tone with supporting soft overtones. Sustain is short as is often the case with the thickest old bowls, though you can extend it with a forceful strike. This is a bowl for mallets, the incredible mass of it makes it hard to get going with any ringing stick. A rare and impressive piece, very few of these on the market these days. With overtones at G#6, D7, C#8.
