Adorned Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with a ghostly overtone flutter #3918

1. Best L 4 Large Low Mallet single tap.
2. Rim Play: N103 Large Ringing Stick leather using the tap and spin technique.

Thick adorned very large Thadobati. It has black patina, under which clear elaborate etching is visible. The rim is wide inner facing and crushed on the outside, a very old style bowl. Super high frequency very large bowl with a hollow sounding texture, almost ghostly. The overtone flutters like a bird while the fundamental starts flat then emerges as a woo-woo. This bowl has a sharp rim, a deliberate feature added by the talented artist, so the way to spin it is the tap and spin method. In the recording you can hear the tap then the spin, fast then slower as volume goes past the saturation level of the software. Don’t bother with wood, not only is it scratchy but it is the same fundamental centric sound of the leather. An unusual soundscape to go with a remarkable looking bowl. With overtones at C#6, B6.
