Large Thick Antique Ultabati Singing Bowl with deep peaceful tones #948

948 Large Thick Antique Ultabati Singing Bowl with deep peaceful tones #948

1. N88 XXL Nepali Mallet single tap. More Bass
2. Best L 2 Large Very Low Mallet single tap. More Overtone

Absolutely huge Ultabati, one of the largest I have handled. Unlike many really big bowls this one is also extra thick. It weighs in well over 10 pounds 11.8 to be exact. The bowl inside is a burnished, polished wonder, simple deep circles in a field that glows. Outside is a bright smooth band, stopping right in the middle of the Ultabati flip shape and below that a darker color, rough with hammermarks. Fantastic looking bowl.

Super deep and peaceful soundscape based on a 78.5 Hz fundamental tone with a series of A notes A3 221 Hz A4 432 Hz and A5 as overtones. The complexity of the initial sound where you can hear a multiplicity of higher notes adding character with their gentle activity slowly fading while the bass drones. As the soundscape evolves the bass outlasts the overtones providing a deepening impression. Premium harmony and very good sustain, well over a minute.

The rim on this huge bowl is very slick and so it is not easy or satisfying to try to spin the rim. Instead of the usual spinning the rim recording  I’ve provided a second recording of the bowl struck with a higher tone mallet so you can hear to upper parts of the soundscape that give the bowl it’s exceptional resonance. With overtones at A3, A4, F5.
