1. Best L 4 Large Low Mallet followed by L 8 single tap. |
2. Rim Play: N103 Large Ringing Stick leather then wood |
Large Thadobati, one time thick and elaborately decorated that is now smooth from wear. It has a color that indicated a difference from many old bowls, likely the presence of some unusual trace metals. The artwork is faint, the rim plain and the bowl now of average thickness. Such is the effect of long time use on these antiques. Even at average thickness the bowl has a very high main tone for its size. There are not many tones around that primary note and all of the sound is fleeting, maybe 20 seconds of any volume. Internal harmony is very good. Rim play with leather is satisfying, with wood a bit scratchy. Both ways get good volume. Good value if you are looking for a large very old bowl with a bit of mystery to it. With overtones at G5, F#6, G#7, C#5.
