9261 Thick Adorned Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with sweet deep soft bass #9261

1. Best L 4 Large Low Mallet single tap.
2. Rim Play: N103 Large Ringing Stick leather then wood followed by FP Ebony Wand

Very large Thadobati with extensive worn artwork and bright patina. In the middle of the bowl you can see a very worn banded punch circle. A long inscription, half way around the bowl can be seen on the inside by the rim. This bowl, originally thicker, has been used and used. Parts of the bottom are paper thin, there is even a pinhole (see the pic with the bright spot, that’s me pointing a flashlight through it). Sweet soundscape with a deep soft bass and strong overtone. Harmony is very good, sustain is excellent. The oscillations are short and shallow. Premium harmony, good longevity. Fine rim play, the pulsing bass a plays smoothly with leather. Simple wood spins out the overtone. A massive yew wand does that more smoothly. With patience the next two overtones sing out with a tiny ebony wand. Marked down for the non-sonic see through feature of the bowl. Imagine how many washings it took to do this!. With overtones at B4, C6, F#6.
